Why do Muslims deliberately and shamelessly pass misinformation about what Paul said in Roman 3:7 to suggest that Paul approved of lying (to enhance God’s truthfulness and glory) while Paul was in fact condemning those who lie?
Read what Paul says further:
‘Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?” Why not say—as some slanderously claim that we say—“Let us do evil that good may result”? Their condemnation is just!’ (Romans 3:7-8).
Paul is using a RHETORICAL QUESTION and a FIRST CONDITIONAL (IF). It’s like asking “if I buy an expensive house inorder to show how blessed I am, why am I considered wasteful?
It doesn’t mean that I have bought or I want to buy an expensive house but it just means I’m raising a moral issue which I want to address.
Paul then clearly explains that some people “slanderous” (UNTRUTHFULLY) claim that Paul and other Christians say it is right to “do evil that good may result”. Paul is sharing an UNTRUTHFUL CLAIM made against him and other apostles.
In the following verse (verse 8) Paul then addresses the moral issue of whether it is right to lie/use falsehoods (EVIL) to enhance God’s truthfulness and glory (GOOD)?
His ANSWER is that those that do this evil (lying to enhance God’s truthfulness) will receive God’s CONDEMNATION.
Paul is even CLEAR about NOT using deception but being truthful before God “Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God” (2 Corinthians 4:1-2 ).
