What does it REALLY MEAN that God is ONE if Jesus confirmed (Mark12:29) the teaching in the Law of Moses (Torah) that God is ONE.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” (Deuteronomy 6:4)
Jesus also declares in his own words: “I and the Father are ONE.” (John 10:30). [“ONE” in Deuteronomy 6:4 in Hebrew is “ECHAD” which means a single entity but made up of more than one part (unity). There is another Hebrew word from the same root–“YACHID” which means single)]. “ECHAD” is also used in Genesis 2:24 in referring to a husband and wife being “one” flesh.
Beloved Muslims mistakenly believe that just because the Torah teaches about the monotheistic (ONE) God THEREFORE the God of the Torah is Allah of the Qur’an. Even though the God of the Torah and Allah of the Qur’an share the CONCEPT of the ONE (monotheistic) God, it doesn’t mean they are the SAME God whatsoever. If we both attend SCHOOL, it doesn’t mean we attend the SAME school. The 7th century god, Allah of the Qur’an, is NOT the true and ONE God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob of the Torah even though Allah claims to be (QS 29:46).
You may be deceived by the CONCEPT of a ONE God (monotheism) and the attributes of the true God which the god of the 7th century, Allah, also claims about himself (the Most High, Creator (of the heavens and the earth), Maker, All Mighty, All Knowing etc). Did you know that by the same CONCEPT, Satan is ONE (monotheistic) too? Satan is a being who is a deceiver (uses both RIGHTEOUS DEEDS [through his SERVANTS (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)] mixed with false worship of himself as “the Most High” (Isaiah 14:12-14).
Strangely, Allah claims to be the ‘Most High’ but that is a title which only belongs to the true God of the Torah and Gospel who spiritually is our Father (Deuteronomy 32:6, Isaiah 63:16, 64:8, Jeremiah 31:9) and whose special, eternal and covenant name (which he revealed to mankind through Moses in the Torah) is given as follows: ‘God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is MY NAME FOREVER, the name you shall call me from GENERATION to GENERATION.” (Exodus 3:15). Is this covenant name any one of the 99 names of the 7th century god, Allah? In which verse of the Qur’an or hadith can you find the eternal and covenant name of God?
Allah of the Qur’an, in no way, shape or form is he FATHER to anyone one. (QS 6:100). God being a father does not mean, as the pagan worshipers of Zues and the Qur’an (QS 6:101) would have Muslims believe, that in order to make children God must have genitals and a partner/consort. This is a CONTRADICTION because Allah did have, as is the claim, the ability to give Mary a biological child even though Mary had no partner!
Jesus also referred to the covenant name of God:
‘But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” (Matthew 22:31-32)
This is the name of the God whom Jesus communicated with and called out to while on the cross, not the 7th century god, Allah, of the Qur’an.
Allah of the Qur’an has no written historical records or oral tradition before 610, except as the pagan god, Hubal (“He who is Baal”) worshipped around the centre of pagan worship in Mecca. Hubal was the Allah of the Kaaba.
