Is Muhammad the Comforter to come mentioned in John 14 and 16? You say “the Prophet Muhammed was sent by Allah”, right? If so, would that mean Jesus is Allah because Jesus says HE will SEND the Comforter..? Who sent Muhammad: Jesus or Allah?
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will SEND him unto you. (John 16:7)
Beloved, with your patience, I would like to help you UNLEARN the LIES which have been fed to you about the Holy Spirit. To begin with, Muslims ACCEPT the book of John as God inspired and good enough to quote from in proving Muhammad is the Parakletos or Comforter (just like Ibn Ishaq, the writer of Muhammad’s first biography, did in the 8th century) in trying to “find” Muhammad/Ahmed (as Muslims are informed in QS 7:157, 61:6). YET in the same sentence, Muslims REJECT that the book of John is part of the Gospel (the word/wahi) which was with the Christians (QS 4:47, 5:43 7:157) at the time of Muhammad in the 7th century! The claim is that the author of the book of John is anonymous and was perhaps written by a pagan! This has to the best example of hypocrisy, double standard, contradiction and cognitive dissonance ever recorded in the history of humanity! Indeed, without lies like this, Islam dies!
The Comforter is not Muhammad.
The Comforter, mentioned in chapter 14 and 16 of John is the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost/Spirit of Truth/Helper (depending on the Bible version one uses). One must not make the terrible mistake of forcing their own narrative into the text (eisegesis), rather, one should read the verses in the context (exegesis) of the entire chapter/book/Gospels.
If one reads the entire book of John and chapters 14 and 16, one would easily come to the following conclusions:
1. Jesus, as Word of God, IS God. “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
Jesus declares the commandments of God as MY commandments (John 14:15)
2. Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus told Philip that if he has seen him [Jesus] you have seen the father [John 14:9]
“For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his OWN FATHER, making himself equal with God. (John 5:18).
Jesus tells the disciples he will leave them with the Comforter (the 3rd person of the Trinity). It is blasphemy to suggest that either Gebreel (no verse in the Qur’an says Gebreel is the Holy Spirit) or Muhammad is a third member of the Trinity of God. The Holy Spirit in essence is God. He is SPIRIT, not MAN! Muhammad was a MAN, not SPIRIT! All the three members of the Trinity use the pronoun ‘He’. The relationship of the three members of the Godhead is as follows: The Father has authority over and sends the Spirit (Just like He has authority over and sends the Son).
The Spirit of God existed before creation and is ETERNAL. Muhammad is not.
“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
In the Old Testament it seems the Holy Spirit was available only to particular individuals.
The Spirit of God is SPIRIT, holy, eternal, gives life. The Holy Spirit is God in essence. The Holy Spirit is subservient to the Father. The Holy Spirit is SENT and it gives lives and is able to dwell IN believers:
“When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. When you SEND your SPIRIT , they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.”
Psalms 104:29-30
Moses had an encounter with the Holy Spirit who RESTED on him and the 70 elders of Israel and they began to prophesy.
“I [God] will come down and speak with you [Moses] there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone. Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took some of the power of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied—but did not do so again..” (Numbers 11:17,24-25).
David pleaded with God after he had sinned :”Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy holy Spirit from me.” Psalms 51:11
The Holy Spirit is associated with FIRE .
John the Baptist said he baptized with water but there was one mightier than him who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and FIRE [Luke 3:16]. This happens later on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:3 “And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat upon each of them.
“But the Comforter, WHICH IS THE HOLY GHOST, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 14:26
From the above verse, the Comforter will be sent by the FATHER. Jesus says he is the Son. Is Allah now the Father? Does Allah have a Son? The Qur’an says Allah is “exalted beyond having a Son” QS 4:171. So how does one find Muhammad in a book and chapter which declares Jesus as God and confirms the trinity of God?
Jesus said the Comforter would be IN those who would receive him. This means that the Holy Spirit is OMNISCIENT. “even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth WITH YOU, and shall be IN YOU [John 14:17] Was Muhammad ever inside anyone or OMNISCIENT (everywhere)?
“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells IN YOU. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Romans 8:9
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you FOR EVER; John 14:16
Did Muhammad abide forever?
“And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
John 16:8
The above is not true of Muhammad. Muhammad couldn’t have CONVICTED the world of sin. The Holy Spirit is holy. Was Muhammad holy? No. Muhammad violated the commandments God gave to Moses! JUDGEMENT? Muhammad will himself be judged.
The Holy Spirit did appear to the believers as Jesus had promised (500 years before Muhammad):
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:1-4
The Holy Spirit is a third member of the Trinity:
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? Acts 5:3
The Bible calls on Christians to lead a life that is pleasing to God because the Holy Spirit lives in us: “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells IN you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
I Corinthians 3:16-17
There are GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT in 1 Corinthians 12 and FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT in Galatians 5:22. The Holy Spirit has nothing to do with Muhammad.
Friend, if you believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God who died on the cross and resurrected, you too will receive the Holy Spirit.
Unlike the Spirit of Truth, Mohammed is not the giver of life, is not omniscient, does not dwell IN believers, is not eternal (Muhammad is dead) and was NEVER SENT by JESUS CHRIST!
YES, John 16:2 does however give a prophecy about Muhammad but not in the sense Muslims would like. In this chapter Jesus warns against FALSE PROPHETS like Muhammad/Ahmed:
“They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.
John 16:2
Muhammad had no problem killing unbelievers or polytheist. (QS 9:29) “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day… until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued?
While Jesus CONQUERED with LOVE, Muhammad CONQUERED with TERROR:
Muhammad is reported to have said: 328. It is related that Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah said, “The Prophet said, ‘I have been given five things which no one before me was given: I have been helped to victory by terror flooding (my enemies’) hearts up to a month’s journey away…”
