“Begotten son” and “only begotten Son”: What do they mean?

There is only one figure—Jesus Christ—referred to as “only begotten” throughout scripture. He is the only one to be given a throne, dominion, power, glory and who will rule in his kingdom FOR EVER. This can be found in the Old Testament Jewish scriptures, for example, Daniel 7:13-14 and Isaiah 9:6

I can understand why Muslims confuse the words “Begotten” used in Psalms 2 and “ONLY BEGOTTEN” John 3, forgetting that the original words were not in the same language and therefore have totally different meanings. Psalm 2 (Old Testament) was written in HEBREW and the word for BEGOTTEN is “YALAD” and the lexical meaning is “to bear, beget, or bring forth.”.

“I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have BEGOTTEN You. (Psalms 2:7)

In John (New Testament), ONLY BEGOTTEN was written in GREEK and the word is “MONOGENES” and it means “pertaining to being the only one of its kind or class, unique in kind.”  [According to the Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature (BAGD, 3rd Edition)]

“For God so loved the world that He gave His ONLY BEGOTTEN Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
