Many will say to me “Lord, Lord”.. Quoting Mathew 7 out of context is a pathetic lie for many years sponsored by Ahmed Deedat. Deedat deceived beloved Muslims by quoting the “Lord, lord” verse OUT OF CONTEXT yet it is a verse which is very easy to understand:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)
Contrary to how Muslims blindly misinterpret this scripture, in this verse Jesus is making an EXCLUSIVE claim to be the only LORD and SAVIOR one must acknowledge inorder to be SAVED. Jesus’s claim is based on a prophecy about himself (the Branch) written by the prophets of old:
“ ‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The LORD Our Righteous SAVIOR .’ (Jeremiah 33:15-16).
1. From a basic comprehension of this verse do you agree that Jesus confirms that ONLY THOSE who call him Lord AND do the WILL of the Father (by practicing righteousness), WILL enter the kingdom of heaven?
Jesus said:
“But everyone who HEARS these words of mine and DOES NOT PUT THEM INTO PRACTICE is like a foolish man who built his house on sand” (Matthew 7:26).
Further, Jesus said:
“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” (John 14:21).
“By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever DOES NOT PRACTICE RIGHTEOUSNESS is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”
1 John 3:10
🚨THEREFORE, those who call Jesus ‘LORD’ and DO do his Father’s will, will cast out demons and prophesy etc in his name and WILL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN!
Mathew 7 CONFIRMS (rather than REJECTS) the LORDSHIP of Jesus!
Jesus also said he was Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8).
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever BELIEVES IN ME, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?” She said to him, “Yes, LORD; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.” (John 11:25-27)
‘If you openly declare that Jesus is LORD and BELIEVE in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be SAVED.’ (Romans 10:9)
