Some curiously ask: where does Jesus say “I am God, worship me”? What about actually finding out whether Jesus has the attributes of God or not? Do the attributes of God not matter any more?

1. The attributes of God are that he is creator, everlasting/forever, holy, spirit, is worshiped, forgives sins and in scripture he appears at various times in the form of a cloud. Does Jesus fulfill these attributes? Yes.

Being the SON OF GOD, Jesus is God in essence. If you want to find where he said he is God, find where he said he is the Son of God because by stating that he was the Son of God, the high priest accused him and had him crucified for making himself equal with God—blasphemy. He said he is the Son of God/son of man (Matthew 11:27, Mathew 26:63). Peter called him “THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD”. It’s not just a New Testament teaching. The Prophets of old (except Muhammad and his god) testify that the Messiah is the SON OF GOD (Genesis 49:10, Daniel 7:13-14, Isaiah 9:1-7, 1 Chronicles 17:11-15). The prophets were pointing to only one son (not many sons) who would rule his Father’s kingdom FOREVER.

2. Jesus is referred to as ‘God’ in scripture. His disciple Thomas said, “MY LORD AND MY GOD” (John 20:28 see Psalm 35:23-24) and Jesus did not rebuke him for blasphemy. In Isaiah 9:6 he is called “MIGHTY GOD”. Jesus confirmed that “God is ONE” (Mark 12:29) as stated in Deuteronomy 6:4. He told his disciple, Thomas, that if he has seen him, he has seen the Father (John 14:9). This is the context in which he said he is “ONE with the Father” (John 10:30) resulting in the Jews wanting to stone him for making himself equal with God. No prophet could ever say the same.

In Mathew 11:27, Jesus says no one knows the Father except the Son nor does anyone know the Son except the Father.
“The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”
John 3:35‭-‬36. Is this just any son?

3. He is WORSHIPED. Jesus is the “son of man” of Daniel 7 :13-14 who comes before “the Ancient of days” (the Father) and is given a throne, sovereign power, glory and will be “WORSHIPED by nations and peoples of all languages”. As Son of God, he received worship after his disciples saw him walking on water: “Then those who were in the boat WORSHIPED him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” (Matthew 14:33).
When Jesus Jesus was carried up into heaven after his resurrection, the disciples “WORSHIPED him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, continually in the temple blessing God” (Luke 24:50-53)

4. He is ETERNAL (Micah 5:2, John 8:58). Only God is eternal. No prophet is eternal. “No one takes it (life) from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”John 10:18.
He is resurrected. He is ALIVE . All prophets are dead. He had power to raise people from the dead. He has POWER over death. He will JUDGE the world (John 5:26).
He has authority TO GIVE ETERNAL LIFE to those who believe in him (John 17:2). No prophet can give eternal life.

5. Did you know that Jesus used the titles God uses in the Old Testament?
‘Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I AM THE FIRST AND I AM THE LAST; besides me there is no God (Isaiah 44:6).

‘And when I saw him [Jesus], I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, “Fear not; I AM THE FIRST AND THE LAST: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
Revelation 1:17‭-‬18

600 years later, In QS 57:3, Allah also claims to be the FIRST and the LAST.

God uses the title “I am He”:
‘Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me… ” (Deuteronomy 32:39).

‘Now when he [Jesus] said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground. John 18:6

In the Old Testament, God is the shepherd and we are the sheep in his hand:
“For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His HAND. Today, if you will hear His VOICE. Psalms 95:7

Likewise Jesus said “My sheep hear My VOICE, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My HAND.” (John 10:27‭-‬28).

In many places in the Old Testament God appears to the Israelites in the form of a CLOUD (in the desert and on Mount Sinai) and God will appear in the end of time in the form of a cloud.
Jesus ascended to heaven in a CLOUD and will return in the same manner. (Acts 1:9-11).

Jesus said of himself:
“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the CLOUDS of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Matthew 24:30‭-‬31

In QS 2:210, the 7th century Allah of the Qur’an also claims to appear in the end times with the CLOUDS and the angels. By this logic, Jesus has the attributes of God.

But it is Jesus, not Allah, who is coming with the clouds:
“Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.”
Revelation 1:7

6. The Son CAME FROM HEAVEN (Isaiah 40:3-5) and took the form of a man (John 1:14). No prophet ever came from heaven (John 6:38).
The old testament book of Proverbs gives an insight into God and his son: “Who has ASCENDED to heaven and COME DOWN? Who has gathered the WIND in his fists? Who has wrapped up the WATERS in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son’s name? Surely you know!” Proverbs 30:4

Jesus says he is that son: “And no man hath ASCENDED up to heaven, but he that CAME DOWN from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven (John 3:13)

Did Jesus have power over the wind and water?
‘He got up, rebuked the WIND and said to the WAVES, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:39

Jesus said he is from ABOVE, not from BELOW (John 8:23). Prophets are anointed by God but they are not from above. They are from below (of this world).

7. The Son is SPIRIT, not MAN. God does not need a biological wife to have a Son (as the Qur’an strangely suggests) because God is spirit (John 4:24). As spirit, Jesus came into the earth and temporarily took the form of a man (John 1:14).
We therefore worship God as Spirit, not a man. Jesus is HOLY (Mark 1:24), does not have a sinful nature and did not sin. Only God is holy. While prophets may have had their sins forgiven, all prophets had a sinful nature and they DID sin. Muhammad asked for his sins to be forgiven (Sahih al-Bukhari 6307)

8. The Son is CREATOR—YOUR Creator. He is the Word of God, the Word was with God and was God. Everything that IS was created through the Word. (John 1:1-3).
“He was in the world, and THE WORLD WAS MADE THROUGH HIM, and the world did not know Him.” (John 1:10).
“but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he CREATED the world.” Hebrews 1:2
He is the Creator and not a Creature.

9. He has power to FORGIVE SINS (Mark 2:10). No prophet ever forgave sins. Jesus confirmed he is ‘Lord’ (Luke 6:46). Jesus said those who call him Lord, but do not the things he says will not enter heaven.

God gave the 10 COMMANDMENTS to Moses in Mount Sinai. Jesus, in John 14:15, openly declares himself to be God by stating. “If you love me, you will keep MY COMMANDMENTS”.
Jesus said “For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:8
Which prophet could ever claim to be Lord of the Sabbath? By this, Jesus was stating that he is above the laws of the Covenant of Moses. He is the author of those laws.

10. The Son will RULE in his heavenly kingdom FOREVER (to the glory of the Father) (Genesis 49:10, Daniel 7:13-14, Isaiah 9:1-7, 2 Samuel 7:12-14, Luke 1:31-36 and Isaiah 11). No prophet will rule in heaven.

Will you be part of the coming everlasting kingdom kingdom of the Messiah?
